The Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB) Division-II (formerly AHSEC) has allowed candidates who passed the HS Final Examination 2026 to appear for betterment in the regular HS Final Examination 2027 instead of the Special HS Final Examination 2027. The notification, issued on 29 October 2026, relaxes the earlier notice of 9 October 2026, which had placed betterment candidates in the Special exam. The board made the change after requests from students, considering their need to appear in NEET-UG, engineering entrance examinations and other competitive entrance examinations.

Assam HS Betterment Exam Details

Exam Name: HS Final Examination 2027

Class: Class 12

Board: Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB) Division-II, Bamunimaidam, Guwahati

Who Can Apply: Passed regular candidates of the HS Final Examination 2026 who want to improve their marks.

Subjects: Candidates may appear in all subjects or in any number of subjects, as per their requirement.

Marks Counted: The better of the two marks obtained will be shown in the Certificate cum Marksheet of the HS Final Examination 2027.

Practical and Project: Betterment candidates must appear in their practical exams and submit project reports in the HS Final Examination 2027 at their registered institution.

Marking Pattern: Candidates will be assessed under the new marking pattern of theory, practical, and project for their subjects.

Exam Date: The HS Final Examination 2027 is expected in March and April 2027. Exact dates will be on the Assam HS Routine 2027 page once the board releases the routine.

How to Apply for Assam HS Betterment Exam 2027?

The notification has been sent to all heads of institutions under ASSEB Division-II. Candidates should contact their registered institution for the betterment process.

1. Open the Official Notification link from the Important Links section below and read the conditions.

2. Contact the head of your registered institution and tell them you want to appear for betterment.

3. Decide whether you will appear in all subjects or only in selected subjects.

4. Complete the form fill-up for the HS Final Examination 2027 through your institution when it opens.

5. Appear in the practical exams and submit your project reports at the same institution.

Note: The form fill-up dates and fee for betterment candidates have not been given in this notification and will be notified by the board.
